In 2002/03 an ECOPROFIT® Program was conducted in Maribor in the framework of an INTERREG III Project. It contained the training of authority representatives and consultants at the ECOPROFIT® Academy and the execution of an ECOPROFIT® Basic Program.

The project was accomplished in co-operation between the Cities of Graz and Maribor and funded through the EU, the Province of Styria and the City of Graz.

In April 2003 the first 20 Slovenian companies were awarded with the ECOPROFIT® certificate for their exceptional achievements in eco-efficiency. The participants were very satisfied with the results and a follow-up project is already planned.

In a declaration, which was signed by the Major of Maribor DI Boris Sovic, it was agreed on a close co-operation in the further dissemination of ECOPROFIT® in Slovenia - through workshops and road shows in other cities and regions.
